Computer Society of India (CSI), established in 1965, is the largest association of Indian IT professionals. Its objectives include advancement of information and communication technologies and allied areas. CSI endeavours to:

  1. Promote dissemination of information amongst specialists and the public.
  2. Encourage and assist the professionals to maintain the standard, integrity and competence of IT profession
  3. Encourage and assist the professionals to maintain the standard, integrity and competence of IT profession
Some of the major initiatives include:
  1. Annual Convention, Seminars, Workshops
  2. State level Annual Student Convention
  3. Young IT Professionals Award
  4. CSI-Nihilent e-Gov. Awards
  5. National Software Talent Contest
  6. DOEACC examinations

The CSI has 5 technical divisions, 7 geographical regions 70 chapters and 250 student branches. The region III includes the state of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which are strategically significant for India’s position as knowledge super power and as well as achieving the objectives of its Vision 2020.

CSI Ahmedabad Chapter has been one of the most dynamic chapters for several years and has more than --- student branches affiliated. The chapter has received best chapter award for the year 2005-2006 during the recently concluded 41st Annual Convention held in Kolkata during 23-25 November 2006.
