The Co-ordinator  of the Centre, Dr. Adesh Pal has supervised a number of Ph.D. students on diasporic writers and Co-ordinated one national seminar on Decolonisation and one international seminar on ‘The Indian Diasporic Experience : History, Culture and Identity” (Dec. 22-24,2002). He has edited a book on Decolonization: A Search for Alternatives and two on Indian Diaspora- One Theorizing and Critiquing Indian Diaspora and another on Interpreting Indian Diasporic Experience.(To be released on Jan. 27,2004)

Dr. Pal has delivered lectures on the Indian Diaspora as a Distinguished Fellow in The University of Canberra Australia, and University of South Pacific, Fiji.

Dr. Tapas Chakrabarti, Asst. Coordinator of the Centre has been awarded the degree of Ph.D. on Amitav Ghosh, who is an important diasporic writer. He has co-edited the two books on Indian Diaspora mentioned above. He has also co-edited with Dr. Adesh Pal the book on Decolonization: A Search for Alternatives 

 

Dr. M. R. Gosai, Principal, Mahila Arts College, Kadi, did his Doctorate on ELT. He has published many articles on Indian Education System in University news (UGC News Daily).

Prof. B. A. Prajapati is Professor and Head of the MBA Programme of the Hemchandrachrya North Gujarat University. Dr. Prajapati possesses over 20 years of teaching and research experience. He has worked as an expert in various committees on AICTE and Government of Gujarat. He has undertaken four UGC funded research projects and has published scores of papers in reputed journals. He is a recognized research guide in management faculty and eight candidates have been awarded the Ph. D. Degree. Presently he is supervising two or three Ph. D. dissertations on contributions of Indian Diaspora to the studies in Industrial Management. His areas of Interest are Corporate Finance, Management Control System and Strategic Management. He has been nominated a Director on the Board of Directors of one of the Regional Rural Banks by Ministry of Finance, Government if India, New Delhi. 

 

Dr. A. R. Patel is the Director of the Computer & IT Department of the Hemchandrachrya North Gujarat University conducting the master degree study programs of Information technology and computer applications. He is a research guide in Information Technology & Computer Applications. Presently he is supervising two dissertations on contributions of “Indian Diaspora and Information Technology”. His areas of Interest are Electronics Governance and History of Computers.  

Dr. Prem Nath Mishra, Head Department of English, M.N. Science Collge has 
done his Ph.D. on Anita Desai, a Diasporic Writer.
Dr. Star Payal Iyer, Lecturer in English P.K.Kotwala Arts College did his Doctorate on the Novels of Arun Joshi. 


  Cultural Advantage of Patan : 
Patan, the ancient capital of Gujarat and one of the most important centers of ancient learning is an important cultural centre from where many castes and communities have migrated to various parts of the world. Patan has been the work place of great Jain scholars like Hemchandra Acharya whose contribution to Indian Grammar remains undisputed. Many Gujaratis settled abroad are eager to stay and study in Patan, and rediscover their ancient heritage and culture. The history of learning and intellectual vibrancy which is synonymous with the name of Patan makes Patan the ideal place for studying Indian Diaspora.
