* The admission should be strictly based on merit.
* The maximum number of students can be admitted is 60.
* The ratio of on of students admitted and the no of computers should be maintained as 3.1
* Practical duration for each paper should be of three hours per students per week.

Objectives :

The first objective of the course is to familiarize students with the innovation in information technology and how it affects business. An understanding of the ground rules of this technology will enable the students to appreciate the practical details of E-commerce on later stage.

The second objective of this course is to provide an understanding of computers and application of relevant software in managerial decision - making.

Unit - 1 Introduction to Computers :

       -  Analog, digital, hybrid, micro, mini, main, super.
         -  PC-Desktop, Laptop and palmtop.
[4]   Applications of computer.                          [5]   Block diagram of computer.
[6]   Parts of a standalone computer.
       -  CPU, RAM, ROM, keyboard, monitor, mouse, FDD, HDD, CD-ROM.
[7]   Printers                                                 [8]   Modem
[9]   Multimedia kits.                                     [10] Zip drive.
[11] Networking concept : LAN, WAN and MAN. [12] What is hardware and software.
[13] Types of software.                                [14] Computer language.
[15] Application programs and custom software.   

Unit - 2 Introduction to following terms :

[1]   Algorithm, artificial intelligence, ASCII, ATM, automated office, backup, BIOS, bit byte, boot bug, client/server, encryption, flow chart, GIGO, POST, password, program, modem, web, virus, Configuration of a pc-computer.

Unit - 3 Introduction to windows 98 :

[1]   What is operating system?  
       -  Meaning and its functions only.
[2]   Popular operating systems for PCS.            [3]   Window-98 an introduction.
[4]   Desktop and its parts.
       -  Taskbar, wallpaper & icons.
[5]   Options of start menu.
       -  Program, Documents, Settings, Run, Shutdown.
[6]   Some program & tools available as a part of windows.
       -  Calculator.
         -  Media player
                       -  Paint                                       -  Disk defragmenter
       -  Scandisk.
[7]   Windows explorer
       -  Parts
                       -  Creating a folder
       -  Deleting a file
       -  Deleting a folder
       -  Coping and Moving a file and folder.

Unit - 4 Introduction to Word 2000 :

   -  Typing, saving, printing, print preview, opening, closing a document, and saving a document with new name.

             a specific page.

Unit - 6 Introduction to Access 2000 :

[2]   Salient features of Access 2000, Screen of Access 2000
[3]   Understanding of following database objects (only definitions)
       -  Tables Queries Forms Reports Macros Modules.
[4]   Create table in design view.
       -  Types of fields available in Access 2000
       -  Concept of primary key.
[5]   Creating data entry form using forms wizards.
[6]   Queries using wizards
[7]   Creating reports using wizards.
