Industrial Chemistry (Paper-II)

Unit - 1  

  1. Distillation : Introduction, equipments, batch and continuous distillation, separation of zoetrope's, plate columns and packed columns. 

  2. Absorption : Introduction, equipments, packed columns, spray columns, bubble columns packed bubble columns, mechanically agitated contactors. 

Unit - 2

  1. Evaporation : Introduction, equipments, short tube (standard) evaporator forced circular evaporators, falling film evaporator, climbing film (upward flow) evaporators, Gipped (agitated) film evaporator. 

  2. Filtration : Introduction filter media and filter aids, equipments, plate and framed filter, nauch filter, rotary drum filter, sparkler filter, candle filter, bag filter centrifuge. 

Unit - 3

  1. Drying : Introduction, free moisture, bound moisture, drying curve, equipment, tray dryer, rotary dryer, flash dryer, fluid bed drum dryer, spray dryer. 

  2. Crystallization : Introduction, Solubility, nucleation, super saturation, crystal growth, equipment, tank crystallize, evaporator crystallized, agitated crystallizer draft crystallizer. 

Unit - 4

  1. Extraction : Introduction, selection of solvents, equipments, spray column, rotary disc column. 

  2. Mixing : Introduction, mixing of liquids, liquid, solid-solid, liquid-solid systems. 

Unit - 5

  1. Leaching : Introduction, Single & Two stage leaching.

  2. Membrane separation process : Membrane and membrane pemeation  Dialysis, Reserve osmosis. Ultrafilteration.

 

Practical Based on Paper-II

  Section - I

    1. To analyze brass for it major constituents - copper (gravimetrically) and zine (volumetrically) 

    2. Determination of solids contents in given sample of industrial west water sample (suspended solid &

        dissolved solid - Gravimetrically). 

    3. Volumetric : Percentage purity of benzoic acid. 4. Volumetric : Estimation of sulfa drugs. 

Section - II  

    1. Preparation of p-nitrocetanilide from acetanilide. 

    2. Preparation of sulphanilic acid from aniline. 

    3. Preparation of triphenylmethane from benzene. 4. Preparation of O-benzyl benzoic acid from benzene. 

Section - III  

    1. Colorimetric estimation of iron in vitamin tablets. 

    2. Conduct metric determination of acidity of west water sample. 

    3. Spectrophotometer : find out the purity of food colour (Lemon Yellow or Purple red.) 

    4. To study electrical behavior of material at various temperature and find our coefficient of material. 

    5. Limit test : Iron, Lead, Arsenic.
