The LL.M. syllabus has been updated in consultation with the UGC Model Curriculum (LAW) - 2001. The revised curriculum of LL.M. shall be in force from June 2003. The updated syllabi of LL.M. Part-I and LL.M. Part-II and the courses are given below.
Candidates for the written examination of LL.M. will be examined in any one of the four groups consisting of eight papers, three being compulsory in each group. Each of the eight papers shall carry 100 marks and shall be three hours duration.
Practical will be conducted in LL.M. Part - I as well as in LL.M. Part - II. The practical shall carry 75 marks. The practical examination shall be held at the end of the second year of LL.M. studies.
Dissertation work will be carried out during the two years of LL.M. studies, and dissertation prepared and submitted by the end of the second year of LL.M. studies. Dissertation carrying 125 marks shall be evaluated internally and externally (i.e. by the person not serving in the College/the University Department where the candidate has studies), with 100 marks for the written work and 25 marks for viva-voce.
Candidates for the LL.M. examination will thus be examined in eight papers-each paper carrying 100 marks, in practical carrying 75 marks, and in dissertation carrying 125 marks. The grand total of marks will be 1000.
