Objectives : 

To develop appreciation of design in home furnishing in different periods. 

To develop skill in creative environment suitable to the heads of the uses. 

To learn to develop art of judging functional home furnishing. 

To gain better understanding of the principles of designing. 

 

Unit-I 

  1. History of an Art; Culture and Furnishing 

  2. Introduction to Chronology of various periods of Art & culture. 

  3. History of civilization and culture. 

  4. Living style from Indsvelly & civilization till modern time. 

  5. Industrial revolution and it’s effect on life style. 

  6. Contemporary India with major emphasis on designs of furniture, textiles & accessories used in modern home. 

  7. Furniture of traditional & Modern home furnishings. 

  8. Developing criteria for judge functional and esthetic criteria of home furnishing. 

  9. Current trends in Interiors and the common terminology used in Interior decoration. 

Unit-II 
Bases for planning Interiors Needs for family living area, Needs for public area, needs for commercial and professional work area. Criteria for judging functional and esthetic characteristics in designing understanding commercial requirement in terms of scale, nature, and impaparentens with a inside in to customer psychology and their expectations and aspiration. Design efficiency in terms of patter of movement, pattern in body measurement, efficiency in functional activities. Consideration while repeals remolding and alteration in home & commercial space. Points to be consideration while designing the residential area small commercial space like – fast fual corners, shop and small offices. 

Unit-III 

  1. Arrangements of furniture and furnishing. 

  2. Treatment of Individual rooms in home. 

  3. Treatment of professional area. 

  4. Treatment of commercial space. 

  5. Materials exploration – Colerar, tevtura used in interiors. 

  6. Market survey of materials to know availability and price. 

  7. Preparation plan, elivation and 3D views (basic) of residential & commercial places. 

  8. Comfort – furniture in Interiors. 

  9. Lighting – types & amounts of lighting for various functions. 

  10. Relation between lightings & colors. 

  11. Reflections – working out & sentiment for lighting proposal. 

  12. Sound Properties, behavior of save, Inpropate sound, sound conditions, sound insulation and it’s necessities methods of sound insulation various materials used for same. 

  13. Heating & cooling of environment – understanding element of climate, Micro climate, heat exchange of building, used and application of materials in different climate. 

Unit-IV 
Materials and used in Interiors Muel, bricks, stones, timber, concerts, steel, bamboo, plastics, Acrylic & glass, fiber beard, plywood, aluminum, copper, iron and other materials. Dit’s Chandani & Affords in Interiors. Importance of estimating cost and budgeting. Budgeting for renovation / new plans. 
Unit-V

Methods of mod change in living environment – wall finish, floor covering – furniture 
– uplifton curtains and dropperies, accessories used in the home. Organization, which encourage preservation of indigenous art, culture and industries. Research need in the field and areas – needing research.
